		In memory of Nitish Laharry, 1st Asian RI President

Nitish Chandra Laharry, a member of our club, was the first Asian President of Rotary International in 1962-63. On the day he assumed office in Chicago, Illinois, USA  (Sunday, July 1, 1962) Sm. Padmaja Naidu the Governor of West Bengal laid the Foundation Stone of a Children's Library at 94/2 Chowringhee Road, Calcutta. That building came up and in due course was expanded to the present Rotary Sadan.
