DILIP SIRCAR
PRESIDENT 2009-2010
Expired at 7:20 pm on Sunday 10-Jan-2010 at AMRI Hospital, Golpark.
He was suffering from pancreatic carcinoma, borne with dignity.
He brought with him a Rotary experience of nearly forty years
having joined Rotary as far back as 1972. He had occupied many important
positions in the Club and the District and served as President-elect,
Vice-President, Special Aide to District Governor, Director, Advisor,
Committee Chairman, Club Correspondent, Rotary Ambassador and Chairman GSE Team
District - 3290.
Mr. Sircar also brought with him ninety years of legacy of a club which
first appeared in the Rotary horizon on 1st January, 1920. It survived two
world wars when other clubs closed down and is now the oldest continuing
club in Asia, fondly described as 'Old Number One' .
Mr. Sircar who had the background of entertainment industry - feature,
documentary, telefilms, was Director of New Theatres Pvt. Ltd. a legendary
organization in this field which has the distinction of bringing out many
national award wining films. He had seen the full spectrum of human life through
films produced by his company and this had given him an insight of humanity
which was so much vital for Rotary service. He had been occupying as President or institutional Head of large number of organizations in film
and television industry, social clubs and sports organizations.
