Rotary is an organisation of business and professional persons united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
It the world's first service organisation with 1.2 million members in 169 countries..

It was formed by Paul P Harris (picture on left), a Chicago lawyer and three of his friends,
The picture on the right shows the First Four members: They met on 23 February 1905 and 'Rotary was formed.

The name 'Rotary' came from the practice of 'rotating' the club venue in each others offices.
