9. Major Public Relations exercise
Spreading awareness about Rotary and its activities has been one of our major
thrust areas this year. Several of our club activities were reported in the print &
electronic media as summarized below:
o Platinum Jubilee Annual Children's Treat
o Visit of 350 and 175 under-privileged children in two batches to the Raj Bhavan,
presentation of cultural shows before His Excellency
Shri Viren Shah, the Governor
of West Bengal.
o Workshop on "Safe Driving for professional drivers
o Auto Emission Checking Camp
o Road Safety Program at the crossing of Park Street and Chowringhee Road.
o Induction of His Excellency the Governor of West Bengal as a
Honorary
Member of the Club.
o Panel Discussion on "Consumer Protection": - recorded and telecast by
the Tara
Bangla Channel.
o Interactive Consumer Meet with CTC.
o Special Seminar on ' Emerging Issues on Women's Health"
o Rotary Oration on "World Understanding, Peace and Friendship", delivered
by His Excellency Mr. Hiroshi Hirabayashi, the Ambassador of Japan in India.
o Recognition and presentation of awards to FIVE persons for exemplary
service to physically challenged persons.
o 4th Charitable Homeopathic Clinic inaugurated
o First Rotary Ayurvedic Clinic inaugurated
o Presentation of six special annual awards of Rs. 10000 plus a citation & Chaddar
was made for outstanding service to the society.
o Over 20 billboards and hoardings at prominent locations in the city on the Club's
various activities like -
¨ Rotary Consumer Centre
¨ Annual Children's Treat
¨ Free Multimedia & Computer training Center at Rotary Sadan
¨ Hepatitis "B" Immunization.
¨ Senior citizens
o Tara Bangla produced two special half an hour capsule programs on 'Platinum
Jubilee' Annual Children's Treat and Panel Discussion on Consumer Protection,
which were telecast on several occasions (video recordings enclosed).
10. Special Club Service Projects
Our Club has actively worked on all aspects of Club service such as Membership
development, Classification, Attendance, Programs etc., the following projects may
be considered as special in the area of Club Service -
o Setting up club's website & Internet, communication office & Club
o Renovation of the Rotary Archives & Paul Harris Room
o Induction of HE the Governor of West Bengal as our Hon. Member
o Felicitation of all our Past Presidents
o Organised as many as15 fellowship meets
o A new Club Tie of exclusive design had been made
