  ROTARY 'SAVE WATER' CAMPAIGN

WASRAG - Water and Sanitation Rotarian Action Group
is undertaking a number of projects and initiatives, particularly
on 'Water' , which is one of the most scarce resources today,
with India and Africa being some of the worst hit countries.

Sadly, there isn't enough safe drinking water available worldwide
compared to our demand. But unlike Power, we can save and store
Water for later use.

Our strategy in Rotary is to promote an integrated approach
comprising collection and storage of Rainwater for non-drinking
purposes, purification of raw Rainwater to make it safe for drinking,
and most importantly recharge Groundwater with waste water.

However, the critical success factor is to reduce the wastage
of water. For example, almost 30-40 per cent of piped water is
non-revenue water (previously known as unaccounted for water).
Also, in our day to day life, we allow a tap to run unnecessarily;
we never think of using waste water for non-drinking household
purposes, we let water run down the drain, rather than recharging
the Groundwater; etc.

Alongside our water and sanitation projects, Rotary Club of Calcutta
is undertaking a 'Save Water' initiative through Posters placed at
public places, such as Interact Schools, Social Clubs, Hotels,
Parks, Public Toilets, Roadside, Rotary Community Corps and our
own Club premises to name a few.

For this purpose, we have designed a set of four A3 size Posters
for display, as included in this article. Should your club require
these Posters, please Rotary Club of Calcutta by telephone
or email.
  • Posters are A3 in size.
